What kind of programming does SLA offer for boys?

SLA offers two different programs for boys, based on their current school grade.

We offer a House League for boys in Grades K-2.

The K - 2nd Grade program meets once a week, typically on Sunday afternoons at Westhill Lower Turf Field. The first half of the session is spent working on fundamental skills and drills. The second half of the practice is spent playing 6v6 cross field games. This model has been very successful in neighboring town programs and in youth soccer.  There may be a potential for a jamboree toward the end of the season which will allow the boys to play other neighboring town programs.

We offer a Travel Program for boys in Grades 3-8.

Our program is not a traditional travel program.  All registered participants will be assigned a team.  They do not need to "tryout" for a team.  However, there will be an evaluation period that takes place during the first few practices.  The goal is to create teams with similarly skilled players.  Games will be scheduled with surrounding towns that have teams with like abilities. Practices and games will be held Westhill High School and Stamford High School fields.

Boys in the travel program will compete on grade based teams. Our teams compete in CONNY, one of the country's largest inter-town youth lacrosse leagues. Some of our grades may have more than one team, but it is very correlated to prior year's registration, attendance and the level of interest during our regular registration period.

Our travel teams typically practice twice weeknights typically 6pm-8pm and compete in 1-2 games a weekend. Occasionally, a game may be played on a weeknight.
